Audience Survival Guide

Have you ever attended a Cave Music show before? If not, take note that this is not a conventional performance. There's no printed program. You will be asked not to applaud. It definitely isn't Carnegie-Hall-in-a-Cave. Just let yourself relax! Abandon all your expectations, bid farewell to preconceptions, and prepare to embark upon a voyage into the realms of the unexpected. Beware! Here there be Spirits.

Seasonal notes: Carols In The Caves consists of "The Improvisator" David Auerbach's unique solo renditions of age-old Christmas and Yuletide music on ancient and folkloric instruments. . . plus opportunities for the audience to sing! Some old carols may seem unfamiliar; others you will likely know by heart. Cave Of The Drums has loud and soft moments, plus a few melodic strings & winds thrown in for added interest. Cave Of The Spirits interweaves music with tales from ancient lore. No two Cave Music performances are ever identical.

In order for adults to enjoy the acoustics, these performances are not intended for children under ten.

About Food: Most Cave Music shows are simply musical affairs, not food events, and are scheduled to accommodate dining out conveniently. At most wineries, wine is available by the glass for purchase, and of course you can buy a bottle or case to take home. Please don't bring outside food and beverages.

Dress: Wine cave temperatures range from 60 to 65 degrees, but with enough people, caves warm up. We recommend layered, casual clothing so you can adjust for comfort. Practical walking shoes are advised.

Doors and Performance: Doors open one hour before performance time. Shows last about two hours.

Will-Call: You can pick up will-call tickets at the performance entrance any time after the doors open.

Seating: Seating is on folding chairs, and all seats are general admission--first-come, first-served.

Weather/Rain Policy: Come rain or shine, we are on!

Parking: Wineries have limited parking, so we encourage carpooling. Disabled Parking at wineries: If you need to park in close, please inform us ahead of time so that we may plan to accommodate you.

Special Needs: Please, please let us know ahead of the show date if you use a wheelchair or need assistance. (Wine cave logistics necessitate pre-planning.) All of our venues are accessible.

A Note Regarding Gadgets: Cave Music is inspired by ancient times. 21st century toys clash with the Cave Man's primordial mood. Whatever you've got, turn it off; otherwise, ancient spirits will be loosed upon your heels. That goes for cameras and recorders, too. (We do welcome photography at intermission and after the show.)
